Jacqueline is a Puerto Rican native who grew up surrounded by a large, musical family. The daughter of a composer/songwriter, Ruperto Rivera, Jacqueline accompanied her father to many performances, including a TV appearance on Puerto Rico's famous Don Cholito variety show. The Rivera family produced several recordings in the 70's and 80's, which proceeds helped to finance the family's relocation to Central Florida. The Riveras maintain close ties to their cultural roots, becoming involved with the Puerto Rican Cultural Association. This is where Jacqueline learned many folkloric songs and dances. Years of performances in the cultural festivals, coupled with a deep love for her heritage seared the Puerto Rican rhythms into Jacqueline's soul. Her musical styles range from salsa, Puerto Rican folklore, Latin jazz, funk, pop, to R&B, alternative rock and gospel. Living in Orlando has opened the door to many new influences of American music. Artists like James Brown, Donald Byrd, and Herbie Hancock offered a new type of energy. Also, hearing local DJ's spin jazz and Hip Hop with the artistry of The Brand New Heavies, Eric B & Rakim, and Tribe Called Quest, added to her list of favorite influences, which already included Ruben Blades, Tito Puente, Sheila E. and Giovanni Hidalgo. Jacqueline recently recorded with Contemporary Christian artist Rob Sperti and she continues to work in other music ministries in Central Florida. She has also participated in events such as Christ for The Nations Bible College in Dallas, TX, Morning Star conference at Hard Rock Live Orlando, Crossover Ministry in Tampa, as well as weekly at Destiny Church in downtown Orlando. One may also catch her playing on the open street in a drum circle, at a break dancing battle, or giving percussion lessons in her spare time. Jacqueline wants to continue to play unto our Creator and sees her and others being changed through the gift of music. She is truly inspired, in her gift, by witnessing other musicians and performers master their God-given talents. She wants to do the same and pass that on to others, especially aspiring female artists.
